La Cala Resort – Golf holiday on the Costa del Sol from a golfer’s perspective La Cala Resort is one of the most established golf destinations on the Costa del Sol and is particularly popular with golfers who value variety, training facilities and a მშვიდ, relaxed setting. Unlike many resorts located directly on the coast, this property sits in the hills above Mijas – a factor that clearly influences the playing experience. Three golf courses – three completely different playing styles A key strength of La Cala Resort is its combination of three 18-hole golf courses. Each course has its own character, ensuring that even longer stays remain varied. Campo Asia is considered the most challenging course. Narrow fairways, undulating terrain and strategically placed hazards demand precision and smart course management. Campo America offers more space off the tee but remains challenging due to elevation changes and a clever layout. Elevated tees and panoramic views enhance the experience. Campo Europa is the most forgiving course. Wider fairways and a flatter layout make it more accessible, while water hazards and strategic elements keep it interesting. Playing experience and landscape What sets La Cala apart is the natural terrain. The courses run through a wide, hilly landscape, very different from typical coastal layouts. Elevation changes and wind conditions create constantly changing playing situations. Practice facilities – ideal for ambitious golfers The resort offers excellent training facilities including a large driving range, short game areas and a par-3 course. Perfect for golfers who want to actively improve their game. Hotel and facilities The hotel is designed with golfers in mind. Short distances, smooth organisation and a relaxed atmosphere define the experience. The quiet inland location is a major advantage for recovery. Who is it for? Ideal for golfers seeking variety, training opportunities and multiple courses in one destination. Less suitable for beach-focused holidays or nightlife. Conclusion La Cala Resort is one of the most versatile golf destinations on the Costa del Sol, offering variety, quality and an authentic playing experience.

Its design, with wider fairways and greens and not so undulating terrain, makes it an ideal course for mid-level golfers. Some details of this course can be found in the 14th hole, which is at the limit allowed for a par 3, at 233 metres with the river on the right and the 11th hole of par 5 which is the longest at 524 metres. It also has a main bridge and four other bridges to cross the river Ojén along its course, as well as tunnels to get around with the buggy.
America Golf Club
Golf club page 19.11. — green fee per player: Green Fee 18 Holes incl. shared buggy 2026 MID (10:00) Designed by the renowned Cabell Robinson, like Asia and Europe, the America course has spectacular views of the Sierra de Ojen and the Mediterranean Sea. Its wide fairway with few bunkers makes it a relatively easy course but don’t be complacent as its side slopes and small elevated greens will require careful club selection. Some of the features of this course are an impressive elevated tee shot on the opening par 5, or the fabulous short par 3 16th´s hole with views to feast your eyes on. You will need to be careful on the 9th and 16th holes where you will encounter water hazards.
Asia Golf Club
Golf club page 20.11. — green fee per player: Green Fee 18 Holes incl. shared buggy 2026 MID (10:00) This golf course is the oldest at La Cala Resort and also the most challenging, which is why it is the most respected by golf professionals. With narrow and short fairways, and with 4 holes par 5 for which special strategy is required in the game, especially in the approach shot. Among the holes that require precision in the game are: the 10th with its classic design, the 3rd and 14th with their water hazards; the 5th and the 18th hole where your tee shot must not be too strong or the par 5 could ruin your card. Playing these holes well is decisive for a good score on your round.
