As a golfer, you immediately sense that this is championship level. Everything is well thought out, challenging but fair. For me, it's one of those courses you simply have to play.

Emirates Golf Club

The classic among Dubai's golf courses. With its iconic clubhouse architecture and Majlis Course, this club is a true legend.

Here you play between skyscrapers and lush green fairways – a contrast that can only be found in Dubai. Strategic play is required, especially on the long par 4 holes. A course with character that you won't forget.

The Els Club Dubai

Designed by Ernie Els – and it shows. Wide fairways, classic bunker landscapes and a links-style layout in the middle of the desert.

I particularly like the generosity here. There is plenty of space from the tee, but the approaches to the heavily contoured greens demand clean play. Add to that a relaxed clubhouse with a great terrace – perfect for a drink after your round.

Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club

A completely different character: palm trees, water hazards and views of the skyline along the creek. The course is technical, varied and visually impressive.

You need precision here, especially on the back nine. For me, it's one of the most varied courses in the city – and definitely a worthy end to a week of golf in Dubai.
