Framed by the famous peaks of Lecco’s Pre-Alps, the Lecco Golf Club was established in 1996 on the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs and professionals from Brianza who decided to take over the pre-existing Royal Sant’Anna Golf Club, founded in 1960, for over twenty years the cradle of golfing for numerous fans of the sport. Located in a strategic, easily accessible position less than 10 km from Lecco, immersed in a centuries-old park with an incomparable arboreal heritage, the Club lies in a green oasis of over one million square metres. The Golf Brianza Country Club, designed at the end of the 1980s by the architect Marco Croze, was inaugurated in September 1994 with the opening of nine hotels. The construction of the 18 holes was completed in the autumn of 1997. Extension works of the course, entrusted to Baldovino Dassù, started in 2001. At a later stage, a slight restyling of the existing pits was carried out. The work was initially entrusted to Giulio Cavalsani and later to Franco Piras. Nowadays, the course winds its way through an undulating natural amphitheatre, with a hilly part and a flat part, and four lakes included in the most difficult holes. The Brianza nature offers wonderful views of the Resegone and Grigna mountains in the background, and on clear days even the Monte Rosa. The course is technical, alternating long holes and short, delicate ones where mistakes are just around the corner. It is precisely this characteristic that makes the course varied and fun for both the good player and the less experienced player.   Technical Details Course: 18 holes, Architects: Marco Croze Topography: partly hilly, partly flat Pro’s comments Hole 5: the club’s signature hole, a short, tricky par 3 starting from the top to land on the island where the green is placed. There are also two bunkers protecting the green, one on the front left and one behind the green. Hole 14: green on three levels. A hole with a delicate first shot, with a narrow landing area with a lake on the left and woodland on the right. Shot to the green, elevated and very sloping, protected by a lake on the right, a deep bunker on the left and one at the end of the green. We are midway between Milan and Como, in the heart of the Brianza area, where almost at the same time with the nearby “Barlassina Golf Club”, was created, in 1962, another ambitious project, at the forefront of Italian design. Piero Mancinelli designed the course, Guido Veneziani and Vico Magistretti (personalities that nowadays would be called “archi-stars”) signed the clubhouse project. Keeping the ancient castle of the noble Visconti family (later owned by the Arnaboldi Cazzaniga family ) as its point of reference, a new development of 400 small villas (none taller than the surrounding vegetation) and a golf course were built, in the 60 hectares of woodland. More than 50 years later, the gently undulating course and the club atmosphere confirm their uniqueness, with thanks to the constant evolution and the desire to keep pace with the times. Carimate Golf Club is a very lively club, where the members gather as in a second home and visitors are very welcome. The course, wide and varied, runs amid a botanical heritage of ten thousands plants and has been developed in two different stages: the “Higher” holes, created close to the clubhouse, opened in 1961, and the “Lower” holes, inaugurated three years later. Once seated around the table, at the restaurant, please have a look at the red chairs in wood and wicker: they are rare design pieces, the making of Vico Magistretti, who named them after the Club: Carimate. Since 1962 they are produced by Cassina. Technical Details Place : 18 holes, Par 72, 5850 meters Architect : Piero Mancinelli Topography : flat with very dense vegetation Special features : beautiful course, not to difficult to play, a lust for the eye Pro’s comments A splendid and very tall Atlas cedar makes play on Hole 11, a par 5of over 500 meters, extremely complicated. Positioned in the middle of the fairway around 100 meters from the green, it forces players to be strategically attentive already with the second stroke: better to keep to the right for an easier entrance. A thrilling and unforgettable signature hole.
