When golfers think of the Riviera Maya, they immediately picture turquoise seas, white sandy beaches, palm trees – and some of the most exciting golf courses in Latin America. In recent years, Mexico’s Caribbean coast has developed into a top golf destination that has much more to offer than just sun and sand. Golfing on the Riviera Maya – a tropical dream setting The courses on the Riviera Maya are designed in such a way that practically every shot gives you the feeling of playing in the middle of the jungle or right by the sea. The architects – including well-known names such as Greg Norman, Robert Trent Jones II and Jack Nicklaus – have perfectly integrated the natural environment: dense mangroves, cenotes (underground freshwater caves), Caribbean breezes and spectacular views of the sea. The best golf courses on the Riviera Maya El Camaleón Mayakoba Golf Club – probably the best-known course, as it is a stop on the PGA Tour. A mix of jungle, mangroves and coastline that challenges every golfer. Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club – a course designed by P.B. Dye and known for its challenging layout. The bunkers and water hazards are particularly memorable. Gran Coyote Golf Riviera Maya – modern, sporty, windy, with fast greens and many strategic challenges. Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya – perfect if you want to combine golf with a rock “n” roll lifestyle. Puerto Aventuras & Riviera Cancun Golf Club – for those who love variety, with generous fairways and Caribbean flair. Golf holidays in Riviera Maya – more than just golf What makes the region so special is that you can perfectly combine your golf holiday with culture and relaxation. After your round, you can visit the famous Mayan ruins of Tulum or Chichén Itzá, go snorkelling or diving in the world’s second-largest coral reef, or simply enjoy a sundowner on the beach. Added to this is the excellent hotel industry – from all-inclusive resorts right on the course to boutique hotels in laid-back Playa del Carmen. Climate and travel season The Riviera Maya is suitable for golf all year round, with the main season between November and April, when the climate is pleasantly warm and less humid. In the summer months, it becomes more tropical, but the courses are less busy. Conclusion – Golfing in the Riviera Maya For golfers who want to combine sun, sea and outstanding golf courses, the Riviera Maya is one of the most exciting destinations in the world. Here, Caribbean holiday vibes meet sophisticated golf design, and you literally play in paradise. 👉 A golf trip to the Riviera Maya means: a round of golf in the jungle or by the sea in the morning, an afternoon at the spa or an excursion into Mayan culture – and dinner under palm trees in the evening.
JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar All Inclusive ( 91 %) Hotel page
02.09.–09.09. — 7 nights, SUITE, ALL INCLUSIVE 🏌️♂️JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar – Golf holidays with a Caribbean feel When you check in at JOIA Paraiso by Iberostar, you immediately realise that this is no ordinary all-inclusive hotel. It feels more like a quiet adults-only retreat, where everything is designed to provide you with the perfect blend of golf, beach and enjoyment. I’ve been to the Riviera Maya many times, but the location of this resort is simply fantastic: nestled among tropical greenery, just a few minutes from the beach and with its own championship golf course, which guests have direct access to. All you need to do in the morning is lace up your shoes, grab a quick breakfast, and then you’re almost ready to tee off. ⛳ The golf course – P.B. Dye, trick shots and tropical winds The Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club is a course that challenges you without frustrating you. It’s this combination that makes it so exciting. What immediately strikes you is the typical Dye architecture: elevated tees, deep bunkers, undulating greens. The fairways are very well maintained, but not overly wide – so you have to hit the ball reasonably cleanly. The fairways are very well maintained, but not excessively wide – so you have to hit reasonably cleanly. On the back holes, there is always a light sea breeze, which makes club selection a bit tricky. There is also wildlife: you share the course with iguanas, birds and sometimes even a curious group of coatis. The round is relaxed: the carts are modern, the transfer from the hotel takes only a few minutes, and there are frequent stops for cold drinks and snacks. This is exactly how you imagine golf in the Caribbean to be. 🏨 The resort – adults only, peace and quiet and plenty of space JOIA is clearly designed for adults – and it’s quiet to match. No hustle and bustle, no entertainment by the pool, just an elegant, relaxed style. Rooms & Suites The suites are spacious, modern and pleasantly simple – light colours, lots of wood, large beds. The bathrooms are huge, and many rooms have a balcony or terrace with a view of the greenery or the sea. Food & drink The all-inclusive concept works really well here: a large buffet with fresh, regional ingredients several à la carte restaurants (steakhouse, Mexican, Mediterranean…) stylish bars with good cocktails and reasonable wines What golfers particularly appreciate: breakfast early enough to start the round without stress. 🧘♂️ Relaxation after your round When you come back from 18 holes, you don’t need much – a pool, a drink and peace and quiet. That’s exactly what you get: several pools, including a large relaxation pool high-quality sun loungers and plenty of space a spa that offers really good massages (a leg massage after golf is worth its weight in gold) The beach is wide, soft and typical of the Riviera Maya – turquoise, warm and ideal for simply switching off in the afternoon. ⭐ Why JOIA Paraiso is ideal for golf holidays Golf course right next to the resort Adults-only: peaceful atmosphere, ideal for focused days of golf High-quality all-inclusive Short distances – no long commutes to tee times Perfect climate, lots of sun, but not too hot thanks to the palm trees Ideal for 5–7 nights with several rounds If you’re looking for a mix of golf, the Caribbean, comfort and tranquillity, JOIA Paraiso is a pretty safe bet.
