This area, which covers the coastline from Nerja to Sotogrande, has 70 golf courses, some of which are considered the best in Europe. In addition to this wonderful infrastructure, the mild and pleasant climate with warm, long days and moderate winds makes it ideal for playing golf all year round, and the most prestigious designers in the world of golf have left their mark on the Costa del Golf, as it is known. To name but a few, such as the American Robert Trent Jones, author of Valderrama, Javier Arana, Tom Simpson, Perry Dye, Dave Thomas and Cabell B. Robinson. Also legends such as Gary Player and Seve Ballesteros. The Costa del Sol has hosted international tournaments such as the Ryder Cup, the Volvo Masters, the AmEx World Championships, the Volvo World Match Play Championship, the World Cup, the Spanish Open and the Andalucía Masters. As a tip for your golfing trip, Marbella, Mijas, Benahavís and Estepona are the municipalities with the most golf courses in the province of Málaga. Besides being a vibrant golf destination, the Costa del Sol is also known for its glamorous lifestyle. Above all, the Golden Mile, which stretches from Marbella to Puerto Banús, where you will find a collection of extravagant restaurants, luxury yachts and a nightlife that will leave you wanting more. Golf and More offers a varied selection of luxury hotels and resorts with green fees along the coast and inland amidst areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Golf holidays at the Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol – luxury meets tee-off If you are planning a golf holiday on the Costa del Sol, there is no way around the Fairmont La Hacienda. You can feel it as soon as you arrive: Everything is just right here. The 5-star resort is located directly by the sea, nestled between two of the hotel’s own 18-hole golf courses – La Hacienda Links and Heathland – both in top condition and with spectacular views of Gibraltar and the coast of North Africa. My room? Modern, elegant, with plenty of space and a balcony with a sea view. After a round, the infinity pool or the spacious spa area await – perfect for relaxing. Culinary delights are never boring: from Andalusian cuisine to fine dining, everything is on offer. And if you want to experience something in between, you can be in Sotogrande or Marbella in 20 minutes. Best of all, everything is geared towards golf holidaymakers – tee times are easy to book, the golf team is helpful and the service leaves nothing to be desired. For me, the Fairmont La Hacienda is one of the top golf resorts in Spain. Conclusion: Luxury, location, links golf – this hotel is a hit for golfers looking for style and quality.

Almenara Golf Sotogrande
Golf club page 02.12. — green fee per player: Green Fee 18 Holes (10:00) The Club has a 27-hole course, designed by the British Dave Thomas. It has 3 rounds of 9 holes each and is located next to the natural park Los Alcornocales, where you can appreciate beautiful natural landscapes. The protagonist of this course is the water, since thanks to the two large lakes and surrounded by nature, a great tranquillity can be transmitted. With views of the Mediterranean and the mountains, the course is a real challenge for golfers of all levels. You can enjoy accentuated bunkers, winding hills, water hazards and winding fairways. In addition, the sun is present on most days of the year, making this an excellent place to play golf.
Real Club de Golf de Sotogrande
Golf club page 03.12. — green fee per player: Green fee 18 Holes (10:00) Real Club de Golf Sotogrande was founded in 1964 and is situated on a first class golf course, close to the beach, between the Guadiaro River and the marina of Sotogrande, in Andalusia. RCG Sotogrande is regularly ranked among the top ten golf courses in Europe. Known locally as “Old Sotogrande”, it has mature vegetation including pines, cork oaks, eucalyptus and giant palm trees that enhance the natural beauty of the surroundings. The greens are large and the tees are long, but allow for variations in flag placement and hole length. The green contours are in the classic Trent Jones style and the bunkers are the first in Europe to be filled with bright white crushed marble. Another “first” at Sotogrande was the use of Bermuda grass on the fairways.
The San Roque Club
Golf club page 04.12. — green fee per player: Green fee 18 Holes The Old Course (10:00) Between Jerez and Marbella, almost at the tip of the Iberian Peninsula, lies The San Roque Club. The Old Course is one of the most emblematic courses on the Costa del Sol, where the greens, bunkers and all the playing surfaces have been redesigned and remodelled and can now be compared with the best courses in the world. And on the other hand we find “The New Course”, an incredible and challenging course, designed by Perry Dye, with the collaboration of Severiano Ballasteros. This course offers beautiful views of the mountains and the sea.
