The biggest advantage for us golfers: the Alicante Golf Club, a course designed by Severiano Ballesteros, is practically around the corner. It’s only a few minutes from the hotel door to the first tee – perfect if you like to start early or spontaneously play a 9-hole round in the afternoon. If you’re looking for more variety, other courses such as Bonalba Golf or Font del Llop are less than 30 minutes away by car.

Relaxation after your round

The hotel itself is modern but not overly luxurious – just right if you value comfort without the pretentious golf resort feel. The rooms are bright, almost all have balconies and many of them have direct sea views. After 18 holes, I particularly appreciate the large pool in the garden and the direct access to the beach – take off your golf shoes, put on your flip-flops and head for the sea.

Cuisine & service

The restaurant serves Mediterranean cuisine with an emphasis on fresh rice and fish dishes. If you prefer a more relaxed atmosphere, grab a glass of wine or a cold beer on the terrace and enjoy the sunset. The service is personal and uncomplicated – you can tell that many guests come back again and again because of the good location.

My conclusion as a golfer

The Hotel Almirante is not a classic golf resort with its own driving range or academy, but rather an ideal mix of beach hotel and golf base. It is just right for golfers who value short distances to the course and want to enjoy a beach holiday at the same time. However, those looking for an ‘all-inclusive golf package’ with a spa, indoor golf and a golf shop should perhaps opt for a pure golf resort instead.

In short: golf, beach, Mediterranean lifestyle – at the Almirante, you get the full Costa Blanca experience with perfect proximity to the golf course.
